Listen-Centred Practice and Collaborative Artmaking
I read Irwin’s article, which explored collaborative
approaches to action research projects. Specifically, the article describes how
the author alongside five female artist-teachers collaboratively created an
installation quilt which visually symbolizes “social concern for gender issues and
sense of community,” while also being rooted in a listener-centred process. The
article explores through use of theory and reflections from the artist-teachers
how this process helps to understand each other and the world, and ultimately
helps to create a sense of unity and social consciousness.
Good Gowin's Vee chart of this article.
